For the week 2 paper I want you to do a comparison between three of the hominins we met in Part II the Miocene Epoch and Part III the Pliocene Epoch of Welker’s text.

Choose 3 from this list of nine or ten hominins (depending on how you split Ar. Ramidus and Ar. Kadabba):

Sahelanthropus tchadensis

Orrorin tugenensis

Ardipithecus ramidus, Ardipithecus kadabba

Australopithecus anamensis

Australopithecus afarensis

Australopithecus bahrelghazali

Kenyanthropus platyops

Australopithecus prometheus or africanus

Australopithecus africanus

Keep in mind the evolutionary forces that might have played a part in their speciation event, the environments they were inhabiting, the time period when they were alive, their social organizations, their anatomy and degree of encephalization, etc. Be as holistic as possible when making these comparisons and talk about how each aspect might have impacted other aspects of existence for these hominins.
